LGBTQ-FRIENDLY Universities and Colleges

When you attend a university, you should consider what kind of environment you’ll find welcoming. If you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community, you can find many resources on campus. There are gender-neutral bathrooms, LGBT students’ groups, and other support services available. In addition, the Center for Social Justice Education and LGBT Communities hosts SAFE(R) Space Training, a three-hour training course that’s available to all Rutgers faculty, staff, and students. The center also supports the Language Matters Campaign, which educates students about the impact that microaggressions can have on individuals.

Many LGBTQ FRIENDLY patients struggle to find affordable care because of discriminatory treatment, and often end up with poorer outcomes. The lack of access to healthcare can lead to a range of diseases, including cardiovascular disease, obesity, cancer, and many others. Developing a practice that is LGBTQ-friendly is the first step towards building patient loyalty and trust. It also helps reduce costs.

At the University of Wisconsin, you can get involved in a variety of activities and groups. You can volunteer for the Rainbow Floor, a special interest resident community, or join a student organization. The UWM LGBT Resource Center also offers multiple opportunities to get involved, including social and educational events for all students.

A company’s LGBTQ+ friendliness can be measured with a number of methods, including research-based measures. The Global Workplace Equality Index, South African Workplace Equality Index, and Corporate Equality Index can be helpful in determining whether a company is truly inclusive. Microsoft has long been at the forefront of LGBTQ+ rights, being one of the first organisations to include sexual orientation in their non-discrimination policies.

To participate in the LGBTQ-FRIENDLY Campus Pride Index, a campus official needs to create an account. This official must be responsible for LGBTQ issues on campus, and be in a position to represent the institution in a professional capacity. The online tool is made up of 50+ self-assessment questions, which correspond to eight LGBTQ-friendly factors. After completing the questionnaire, the campus official receives a confidential report that includes their results.

Accenture, for example, is an extremely LGBTQ-friendly organisation. This multinational has featured on the 2022 CEI list and was awarded a Gold tier in the 2021 IWEI. The company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion has helped it achieve its tiering. Furthermore, the company has donated millions of dollars to LGBT organisations.

There are some cities in the US that are more LGBTQ-friendly than others. Missoula, for example, is a progressive bastion in the Big Sky state, home to the University of Montana and a large LGBT community. It’s also the first city in the state to pass anti-discrimination laws. Other cities with supportive attitudes include Bozeman and Helena.
